i'm a soldier wounded so i must give up the fight
Sometimes life is unbearable. Once in every person's life there's that one bad day that just slaps you in the face right as you open your eyes as the alarm goes off, or the sun shines its rays into your face. It laughs as you struggle to stand. It mocks you as you yawn and hit something as your walking or trip over yourself. Such cruelty is unbearable when you have no sleep as well, your eyes struggle to stay open when you listen to the elder ones, who in return for your ignorance might smack you upside your head to wake you up a bit. Unfortunately, that never really works, and the only thing keeping you attentive is how much you want to slap them right back, either that or the pain in the back of your head. Depends on what they hit you with, really.
For Rain, it was that sort of day, as you'd expect it to be. All his thoughts jumbled in his head, back and forth like a pacing tiger in the zoo, some snarling at him, others in the back sleeping and playing with each other. Most were snarling. It was rather annoying from time to time. Rain's duties as leader of his heard hadn't really bothered him until he actually claimed the vast lands of the Aylen. Its name seemed to slap over the wind and the grass, telling all the other better experienced stallions that there was a weak one, a young one at that. Easy to kill! Hurry, before someone beats you to him! Haha. Yes, all very funny. He was scared shitless, honestly. Something about his leadership just screamed 'MURDER!' and when he woke up to that cruel sun in his face, that's what he was thinking, dreaming, and he didn't want to go back to sleep.
There wasn't really anyone in the Aylen lands, so because Rain had left his scent around the place like an over-paranoid dog, he assumed no one would really claim it while he was away. He needed to be away more than anything, and there's no one in his herd anyway! There was stress pressed into his mane and under his hooves, which piled up like mud, making him walk higher, though is head was hung low.
The long, black strands of wiry hair that hung from his neck tickled his nose and scraped gently against his sides as he walked along the pools of water. The cool crystals of liquid rippled at the feeling of his mighty black hooves grasping the floor, shaking the rocks, though Rain attempted to walk silently, beautifully. His maroon fur glistened in solemn return at the water as it shivered, but still, it was dull. As were his dark brown eyes. The stallion caught himself being pulled into the water by his own legs, almost as if he was forcing himself to. The hard, salty smell of the water was almost unbearable, it spit at his nostrils as he moved his body into the pool. Around him, there was an almost bloody glow of red that glittered around him like a halo, spreading from which was a light brown color of the dullness of his pelt. Yes, it had been a while since he washed, but Rain secretly wished he could've bathed in a spot that didn't leave him smelling like the ocean. But it felt so good to be clean, like a weight lifted off the shoulders.
The relaxing feeling sent Rain's muzzle towards the stars, which he could see clearly. The moon was hiding that night, the goddess was no where to be seen. Rain felt a slight sinking feeling as he realized this, the pleased smirk on his intelligent face faded ever so slowly, but his eyes still glittered with the presence of stars.
The stallion felt his heart ache. With out the presence of the moon, whom would he talk to?
there's nothing more for me. leave me away. or leave me lying here.
